Come September, kids can be classified into two groups: either they can’t wait to see friends and start up with the sports team or drama club, or they are already plotting a fake illness to avoid going back to school.
I was the type of kid who looking forward to going back, but I also wanted to return with new clothes, a new hair style, and cool school supplies.
Now that being green is actually kind of trendy, it shouldn’t be too hard to convince the kids that environmentally-friendly products are the way to go. This means the usual tools like paper and notebooks, but clothing and lunch box materials too.
Quick tips:
* Before buying brand new clothes like jeans and t-shirts at the mall, why not subtly suggest a trip to a cool vintage store or a local boutique?
* Invest in a few reusable containers to cut down on the waste materials used in lunches such as wax paper, aluminium foil, and plastic baggies.
* Look for school supplies made with 100% recycled content. Recycled paper is a must but there are many other products made from recycled content or renewable resources like pens, pencils, paper clips and more.
Make a difference − share this environmental tip with your friends.
