Is living green and taking action really that simple?

Cheryl Gudz

I’m convinced it is. And chances are if you’re reading this, you agree. But what about everybody else? To help me think through what keeps people from making greener choices, I made a short list of potential barriers:
1. People are not interested in green action because they perceive it will limit the lifestyle they currently enjoy.

(It doesn’t have to!)

2. People are not interested because they perceive a financial burden will result from any meaningful change.

(Not true!)

3. People are not interested because they don’t know what they can do, or which products and services are greener.

(Good information is easier to come by – see simplegreenaction.ca)

Yes, there are many real barriers to changing behaviors, breaking habits, and giving up convenience. A busy lifestyle doesn’t leave much time for thinking about alternatives.

But all us busy people need is a list of small things we can actually do. We need reliable information and maybe a few reminders to follow-through on our commitments. Because once you start doing a few things differently, it’s pretty hard to go back.

  • I opened a new business this year called Eco Auto Care located in Gananoque Interior and exterior cleaning of cars including a waterless car wash. Some people just dont get it. Sometimes I use water from my rainbarrel to hand washwash then apply my environmentally safe products. show shine less harmful to water resources.
People seem to be more worried about gas right now more than water resources.

  • hurray for waterless car washes and environmentally-safe cleaning solutions! people do not often think about saving water the same way they do about fuel or energy. great business ethics joan, and thanks for sharing.

Now that cold season is here, I was feeling awful about the amount of tissues we go through, so I went to find handkerchiefs, I found some but they were really expensive, so I looked at organic ones and they were not much more! I ordered them and they are great the kids love them!
