Everyday Heroes Caught on Film for Earth Day

Want a fun simple green action to do online? How about watching and voting for your favourite 90-second environmentally-themed video?

The Everyday Heroes Film Competition was created by Earth Day Canada (with a number of key partners) to celebrate the ideas, talents, and green actions of people across the country.

I’ve taken a look at a few shorts and really appreciated the diversity of styles; there’s animation, stop motion animation, earnest biographical profiles, mini nature documentaries, and much more. What has impressed me most about the competition is that regular people, and especially young people, have created memorable works that make it crystal clear why acting with the environment in mind is a mindset we can all adopt.

Click here to view the films for yourself. You can even have your say by voting for your favourite film with People’s Choice award. You can vote once a day until April 25 and enter to with a $250 gift certificate to an Ivanhoe Cambridge shopping mall near you.

Videos will be screened during Earth Week (April 16-25) in Ivanhoe Cambridge malls across Canada, on the Onestop Network of 270 monitors on the subway platforms of the Toronto Transit Commission, as well as Earth Day Canada’s website and YouTube channel.
